Rwanda Gorilla Trekking
The Parc National des Volcans is found in Rwanda and its part of Virunga
Conservation area that is found in the North-Western part of the country,
bordering Uganda and the DR. Congo. The park is commonly known for the four
habituated mountains gorilla families which attract the visitors to go for
the exciting gorilla tracking along the hills of the park. Gorilla tracking
in Parc National des Volcans is possible in any period of the year, booking
for gorilla permits should be done in advance to avoid disappointments for
whoever can sustain a several hours trekking in the rain tropical forest.
Day 1 Arrival
Depart Kampala early morning after breakfast via the area well known for
the long horned cattle that is to say the Ankole region, going through a
diversity of vegetation cover that Uganda inhabits, here, while in this
place you will have a chance to view the coffee plantations before getting
to the terraced hills of the Kigezi highlands baptized as the “Switzerland
of Africa”. Lunch enroute in Kisoro town which is located within the
area of the tropical rain forests at the borders between Uganda, Congo and
Rwanda. Proceed through the border and reach Ruhengeri in time for dinner
and overnight at Gorilla Nest lodge or Kinigi guest house (fb).
Day 2 Gorilla Trekking
after an early breakfast, depart to the park headquarters for the briefing
on mountain gorilla tracking with packed lunch and enough water. Set off
for the trekking into the tropical rain forest after the briefing in search
for the habituated gorilla family. You remain close to the beautiful primates
for over one hour, for observation and photography. After tracking, drive
back to Uganda with a stop at Kisoro Tourist Hotel or Arcadia Cottages on
Lake Bunyonyi in Kisoro town for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
After breakfast drive back to Kampala with lunch en route at the equator
reach Kampala in the afternoon and drive straight to the airport for your
next flight back home.
